Please note that the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is observed on 13 October every year to raise awareness of how people are taking actions to reduce risk to disasters and to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. This year, the theme is “Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future,” and will be on the role of education in protecting and empowering youth for a disaster-free future.
- This year, in order to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the NDRRMC is collaborating with the Citizen Support Unit (CSU) of the Prime Minister’s Office for the conduct of a half-day Programme on Saturday 12 October 2024, consisting of the following activities:
(a) Live Radio Programme on Cool FM;
(b) Familiarization with the NDRRMC Mobile Command Post Vehicle;
(c) Exhibition by NDRRMC, Media Trust and other stakeholders;
(d) DRR Games and Activities in collaboration with the Mauritius Red Cross Society; and
(e) Sensitisation with the public amongst others.
- The schedule of the programme is as follows:
Time: 09 00hrs to 12 00hrs
Venue: Pedestrian Alley Caudan Waterfront. (South Entrance of the underpass)
Target Audience: General public including children and youth.
- In this context, it would be highly appreciated if arrangements could be made for the display of the attached digital banner in your respective digital display boards or any other conspicuous places within your respective area of jurisdiction as from today, Thursday 10 October 2024.
