The Vice-Chairperson of the District Council, Mrs RICOT Marie Micheline is elected from amongst members of the Council at the same Special Council Meeting convened for the election of the Chairperson. The Vice-Chairperson works jointly with the Chairperson and the other Councillors in view of the formulation of objectives and policies at Council Meetings. As per the Local Government Act 2011, where the Chairperson of the Council is absent from a meeting of the Council, the Vice-Chairperson, if present, shall preside over the meeting. In such circumstances, he/she enjoys the privileges conferred upon the Chairperson with regards to voting rights and decisions upon any point of order.
